ABOUT
The Asbury Park Film Initiative (APFI) was founded in the fall of 2008 by Marilyn Schlossbach and VJ Carbone of Focus Features and Bodega Shoppe. The organic, joint venture by Schlossbach and Carbone was spurred after witnessing the success of a free screening of the surf film “Bustin’ Down the Door” at the Paramount Theatre.
Today, APFI has seen great success with promotions such as dinner and movie, and free beach and boardwalk summer screenings in Asbury Park. Monthly themes such as foodie, Hitchcock and child-friendly films, make APFI appealing to moviegoers of all ages.
APFI is strictly non-profit, with donations accepted from fans. Locations for each film are donated by Asbury Park business owners and include local theaters and restaurants, as well as Asbury Park’s beachfront and boardwalk.
